Whitehorse City Council received a grant of more than $412,500 for upgrades to the Britannia Mall in Mitcham. Improvements include new street furniture, paving, lighting, and safety bollards.
The Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program provided the funding. The new upgrades create a more inviting shopping precinct and help reduce crime.
The renewal of the mall encourages more people to spend time visiting the area. The space is now a more functional, safe and accessible space to shop and dine.
The project also helped to boost the local Mitcham economy with employment opportunities. Local service providers and suppliers were used during the works.
The Building Safer Communities Program, continues to provide grants for Victorian councils and community organisations. Find out more about funding opportunities by visiting our grants page.
